About The Position
The Quality Inspector, I (Metallurgy Lab) position at SIG SAUER, Inc. is a critical role within the quality assurance team, focusing on the inspection of ammunition components. This position is responsible for conducting various quality inspections using both traditional and advanced metrology tools and techniques. The inspector will perform routine and non-routine inspections throughout the production process, ensuring that all products meet the required specifications and standards. Key aspects of the role include measuring metal properties such as hardness and grain size, interpreting technical drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and supporting production through data collection and analysis. The Quality Inspector will utilize specialized inspection equipment, including profilometers, LECO hardness testers, and optical comparators, to assess the quality of products. They will also be responsible for documenting any discrepancies found during inspections and collaborating with the Material Review Board (MRB) to resolve issues. The role requires effective communication with supervisors regarding problems and corrective actions, as well as a proactive approach to improving work processes to enhance quality and productivity. In addition to primary responsibilities, the inspector will participate in ammunition testing to ensure compliance with industry standards and government contracts. They will also engage in problem-solving teams to address quality failures and participate in workplace organization activities to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
