About The Position

Ontic is an industry leader with 45 years of experience supporting the Aerospace Industry, providing aircraft technology, parts, and MRO support. The company has a unique business model focused on extending the life of aerospace and defense products. This position is for a Quality Inspector III to join the Chatsworth, CA operation. As a member of the Quality Department, the role involves a wide variety of quality control functions, including inspection, verification, and acceptance of products from suppliers or produced internally, specifically aerospace components, sub-assemblies, or top assemblies. The inspector ensures compliance with dimensional and contractual requirements, exercises discretion and independent judgment, and is responsible for training and mentoring Level B (II) and Level C (I) Quality Control Inspectors. This is a safety-sensitive, temporary position for 6 months.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate expertise in Quality Control Inspection principles and regulatory administration with 7-10 years relevant experience
  • FAA Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14 Part 21, Certification Procedures for Products and Parts
  • AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 9000 Quality Management System standards
  • Proficient in AS9102 First Article Inspection
  • Data package development in DISCUS/Net Inspect
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigation e.g. Apollo Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Five Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram, and Problem-Solving Methodologies/Techniques e.g. 8D, DMAIC

Responsibilities

  • Sustain a high level of ethics while conducting company business in accordance with the company’s code of ethics and policies inclusive of the ASQ code of ethics
  • Applies Strategic and Critical thinking on a continual basis as it applies to Quality Control Inspection, product compliance and conformance, both for Suppliers and the Company
  • Perform review and verification of compliance of Supplier Purchase Order Quality flow down requirements for received product
  • Perform independent inspections of assigned tasks (documentation reviews ATP, CofC, FAIR, hardware inspection, assembly inspection, tests validation, etc.) using blueprints, specifications, contractual documents, visual inspection methods, etc.
  • Perform inspection of complexed GD&T hardware using a variety of hand and bench tools which may include micrometers, bore gages, depth gages, dial indicators, drop indicators, height gages, etc. Tools may also include optical comparators, hardness checkers, profilometers, etc.
  • Communicate, Lead and Coach inner company departments regarding Quality Control activities/developments and Quality objectives
  • Implements Supplier Quality procedures
  • Support developing strategies in association with direct management, Supply Chain Management/Purchasing and Engineering to provide visibility for identified Risks associated with doing business with current suppliers as a result of quality trends
  • Create Supplier and internal Nonconformance reports when required
  • Provide leadership, technical training and act as a mentor for Level B (II) and Level C (I) Quality Control Inspectors
  • Provide technical assistance and training to Inspection personnel regarding mechanical inspection techniques, product and document verification, and other product evaluation methods as needed
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by management
