About The Position

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Improvement Specialist, Provider Performance position in its Quality Improvement department, located in downtown Pittsburgh at the U.S. Steel Tower. This is a full time position working Monday through Friday daylight hours and is a hybrid position consisting of working from home and in office 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required at time of hire/transfer.
  • Five years related experience required.
  • Knowledge of information systems and process improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge of effective in-person and virtual facilitation techniques.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate with data.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities required as related to supporting and driving continuous improvement efforts within the health plan.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities.
  • Ability to independently manage and work on multiple projects.
  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact and engage with all facets of the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Build valuable relationships with internal and external multidisciplinary teams utilizing clinical expertise, strong analytical skills, and incorporating clinical operations experience and quality improvement methodologies to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Serve as a quality liaison to external stakeholders participating in value-based quality incentive programs.
  • Provide clinical expertise in interpreting Value Based Program measures, performance trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and facilitate routine meetings, learning collaboratives, and performance review discussions with hospital and specialty programs leadership and clinical teams.
  • Foster collaborative relationships, promote transparency, trust, and shared accountability for performance.
  • Assist with program documentation, deliverables, and compliance with program requirements deliverable due dates.
  • Utilization of most up to date industry standards such as current clinical guidelines, state and federal quality requirements, and evolving value-based care models.
  • Ability to lead a quality improvement multidisciplinary workgroup.
