About The Position

The Quality Improvement and Infection Prevention and Control Nurse at the San Francisco VA is responsible for overseeing the Infection Prevention (IP) and Control Program and the MDRO Prevention Initiative. This role involves providing expert, evidence-based infection control practices, establishing surveillance indicators, and conducting monitoring to identify and reduce the risk of infections among patients, employees, visitors, and students. The nurse contributes to the annual Infection Control Risk Assessment, determining necessary resources, communicating variances to administration, and revising plans as needed. Additionally, the position includes providing education on infection control issues and ongoing training to staff, fostering a supportive environment for professional development, and serving as a resource for all employees on infection control and epidemiology.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Possession of a master's level bridge program in nursing may qualify for temporary appointment.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including visual acuity, keen hearing, and manual dexterity.
