About The Position

Collaborates with clinical leadership to develop, implement, and coordinate effective systems that improve patient outcomes and quality of care. Provides guidance in the areas of quality improvement and supports the mission by leading the performance improvements linked to the strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, healthcare, or business field, required.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and emotional intelligence skills for facilitation of meetings, presentations, relationship building, and effective communication to all levels of hospital staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and statistical software packages like MiniTab.
  • Expertise in manipulating and analyzing large data sets using pivot tables, formulas, and graphs/charts.
  • Skilled in making data tell a compelling story to drive practice changes.
  • Expertise in statistical process control techniques, including QI Macros or other software to create and interpret control charts.
  • Effective critical thinking skills for developing innovative solutions to healthcare challenges and prioritizing work tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree, preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred.
  • Two years of experience in the quality improvement and/or process improvement fields, preferred.
  • Supervision or project management experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with clinical leadership to design a quality improvement (QI) project portfolio to meet the hospital’s strategic plan, service line goals, and compliance standards.
  • Assists with department or institution-wide projects and national collaboratives, utilizing project management and change management tools.
  • Uses knowledge of data analysis and statistical process control to turn data into information that teams can use to make decisions affecting patient outcomes.
  • Assists teams in developing and implementing quality metrics.
  • Collaborates with clinicians to present and publish quality improvement work.
  • Uses the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model for Improvement as the basis for quality improvement work.
  • Provides education and coaching for physicians and healthcare professionals in the IHI model.
  • Maintains knowledge level and ability related to continuous quality improvement through reviewing relevant peer reviewed publications, attending conferences, and networking with other hospitals.
