About The Position

As a Quality-Facing Machinist - Level 5 here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining complex machinery to produce high-quality components for aerospace applications. You will report directly to our Production Supervisor and you’ll work out of our Urbana, OH location on a On-site work schedule. The Fab Quality-Facing SME will be responsible for ensuring that the department consistently produces conforming material and remains compliant with all quality requirements and expectations. This scope includes (but is not limited to):

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in machining, specifically with CNC and manual equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with quality control processes and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or related industries.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision parts according to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining operations required.
  • Developing the team's skill sets in measurement, inspection, print reading (including GD&T), and documentation.
  • Identifying, justifying, and executing projects to improve yield of conforming parts investigating nonconformances and identifying root causes.
  • Identifying systemic corrective actions to mitigate nonconformances tracking nonconformance events and analyzing for and addressing recurring issues.
  • Assist machinists in interpreting prints, ensure all instruments are calibrated interface as needed with KBR.
  • Collaborate daily with Fab QE and inspectors (FAI, QA FAB).
  • Oversee ZEB activities- execute scrap transactions, manage action RAIL for quality-related actions.
  • Escalate actions to Tier 3 when encountering roadblocks.
  • Schedule and lead meetings to address CARs in eCATS, manage eCATS system.
  • Evaluate potentially non-conforming material through PRB process
