About The Position

Be the standard-bearer on the floor. This role sits at the heart of our quality operation — equal parts investigator, trainer, and improvement driver. Quality at ATEK Metal Technologies isn't a department — it's a mindset. As our Quality Engineering Technician, you'll spend roughly half your day on the manufacturing floor, working directly alongside production teams to catch issues early, support new product launches, and make sure our quality standards are understood and lived — not just posted on a wall. This is a great entry point into manufacturing quality for someone eager to learn, grow, and make a visible impact from day one. We operate with a Kaizen mindset — small, consistent changes that compound into big results. If you're someone who notices what could be better and actually does something about it, you'll fit right in here. No advanced degree required — just drive, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in doing quality work. We'll invest in the rest.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to use Excel for data collection, tracking, and basic analysis
  • Ability to review and manage controlled documents and electronic records
  • You're comfortable on a busy manufacturing floor and can communicate clearly with operators and engineers alike
  • You're detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • You follow through — on audits, on corrective actions, on the small stuff that adds up

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in manufacturing quality control
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems (Epicor, SAP, Plex, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) or document control systems

Responsibilities

  • Floor Presence & Issue Resolution — Spend approximately 50% of your time on the manufacturing floor identifying and resolving quality issues in real time, supporting new launches, and driving continuous improvement where the work actually happens.
  • Quality Procedures — Work alongside the Quality Manager and Quality Engineers to develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures that keep production on track and customers confident.
  • Training & Standards — Train associates on quality system requirements, ensure standards are clearly understood and consistently applied, and serve as a go-to resource for operator questions.
  • Data Collection & Analysis — Collect and analyze quality data, identify trends, and assist in resolving issues to support customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, and product conformance.
  • Audits & Inspections — Perform quality audits and administrative inspections, flagging gaps and supporting corrective action.
  • Document Control — Own the Document Control System — processing change requests, coordinating approvals, distributing updated documents to the floor, and conducting monthly audits to remove obsolete materials.
  • Quality Systems Support — Actively support PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP activities, QMS maintenance, and APQP initiatives.
  • Root Cause & Corrective Action — Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for both internal and customer-reported quality issues.
