Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Quality Engineering Supervisor to support the daily operations in the Machining and Post-Ops Departments by ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and effective leadership of a team of Quality Engineers and Document Control Specialists. This role emphasizes high responsiveness and a fastest-to-solution approach when working with external customers, focusing on containment, root cause analysis (RCCA), and validation of corrective actions. Internally, the supervisor drives cross-departmental collaboration and prioritizes stakeholder needs to improve operational efficiency. The position is centered on reducing scrap and rework costs, increasing throughput, enhancing customer trust and satisfaction to grow market share. Blending technical oversight with mentorship and coaching, this role also offers a strong foundation for potential future advancement into management. This is an on-site position at our Tualatin facility (not remote or hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

  • Supervise, mentor, and grow a team of high performing Quality Engineers and support staff, including task delegation, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Lead daily Quality Engineering (QE) and Document Control (DC) Specialists team huddles to communicate goals, align priorities, and track progress.
  • Monitor department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (e.g., [NC] closure time, First Article Inspection Report [FAIR] acceptance, customer scorecards), identify trends, and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding of new QE staff.
  • When necessary, perform the job duties of subordinates.
  • Interface and present professionally with Customer Quality and Procurement teams to enhance customer confidence and trust.
  • Serve as the focal point for quality-related escalations and customer concerns, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action efforts for nonconformances and customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance in-process inspection practices and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Approve/review FAIR packages, inspection plans, and Quality-related work instructions.
  • Co-chair Material Review Board (MRB) processes and support containment, investigation, and disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Coordinate and support internal audits and quality system compliance efforts.
  • Solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Must understand and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal documentation standards (e.g., ISO, ITAR)
  • Regular, predictable attendance required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 4-year Bachelor’s of Science degree from an accredited university with a focus on Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant Quality Engineering experience, preferably in Aerospace or Semiconductor Manufacturing
  • At least 2 years of team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated instructional knowledge of GD&T, metrology tools, and inspection methodologies
  • Proficient with FAIR submissions, PFMEAs, and SPC data analysis
  • Familiarity with identifying root causes using the 7 Basic Quality Tools
  • Implementing corrective actions and monitoring effectiveness (8D)
  • Working knowledge of Digital Product Definition (DPD) standards
  • Self-driven, dependable, and adaptable to changing priorities

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
