About The Position

We are looking for a Quality Engineering Supervisor to join our Composites Technology Support team at our Bayport facility (position would cover NEXT, BP Materials and Doors Extrusion). The quality engineering supervisor role on our Composites Technology Support team combines the technical expertise and project management skills of a Quality Engineer II with the leadership and strategic direction responsibilities of a Quality Supervisor. The primary focus is to ensure the adherence to quality control specifications, drive continuous improvement, and lead a quality team to achieve high standards in the manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Technology, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of quality programs, SPC, process capability, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present and articulate quality programs, continuous improvement methodologies, and problem-solving techniques effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of quality experience and 2+ years of experience leading a team or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data using statistical techniques.
  • Proficiency in implementing process control charting.
  • Familiarity with computer software tools such as Excel or Minitab for data analysis.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • A desire for personal growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Perform root cause analysis to identify sources of variation and process problems, using Statistical Process Control to reduce process variation and structured problem solving, utilizing DMAIC tools.
  • Interface with Product Design, Product Engineering, Tooling Design, and other business partners to ensure manufacturability and process capability of new and revised products.
  • Develop and maintain quality systems, programs, training tools, documents, and standard operating procedures for critical production processes.
  • Prepare and execute quality control plans, including the review of specifications, tolerances, and capabilities.
  • Lead containment activities for reactive issues and ensure timely documentation and resolution of customer issues (CAPAs, PSWs, PPAPs).
  • Conduct regular meetings with internal and external customers to discuss current issues and proposed changes.
  • Develop gauges and tools for assessing conformance of manufactured parts to engineering specifications.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture and support lean manufacturing implementations.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead a medium-sized team of quality technicians.
  • Develop strategic direction for the quality team and translate strategy into actionable projects.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development to team members, promoting career growth opportunities.
  • Ensure desired work quality levels are achieved through the use of standard work and training, utilizing tools and data to monitor performance.
