The Frontier Program at Liberty Mutual is searching for a visionary and hands-on Quality Engineering Manager to establish and lead our Quality Engineering (QE) capability supporting the delivery of the Frontier program. In this strategic role, you will be accountable for creating, implementing and enforcing quality standards, practices, and tooling across multiple delivery teams, ensuring robust end-to-end (E2E) testing and continuous improvement throughout the software delivery lifecycle. You will be partnering closely with architects, engineering leadership, business stakeholders, and enablement teams to elevate quality, reduce risk, and deliver high-value outcomes.

  • Establish, communicate, and enforce quality standards, frameworks, and best practices across the enterprise, aligning with Frontier Program goals and Liberty Mutual standards.
  • Define and implement fitness functions, quality gates, and assurance areas throughout the SDLC (requirements, design, build, test, implementation, operations).
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing quality engineering team with specialist resources (e.g., E2E testing, performance, security, test data).
  • Develop onboarding, training, and enablement materials to support delivery teams in adopting standards and tooling with minimal friction.
  • Partner with business analysts, architects, engineering managers, and delivery teams to clarify what quality means for each phase and function, codifying processes and making them visible and measurable.
  • Work with vendor and partner teams to ensure alignment with enterprise quality standards and integration requirements.
  • Define, implement, and scale E2E test practices, including contract testing, performance testing, chaos testing, integration testing, acceptance testing, and regression testing across platforms and interfaces.
  • Champion automation-first approaches and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven testing, test data management, and observability tools.
  • Lead the setup and continual refinement of quality dashboards providing real-time visibility into key quality metrics, risk status, compliance, and business impact.
  • Establish traceability matrices and reporting processes to support regulatory, audit, and compliance needs.
  • Foster a culture of ongoing learning and improvement, leveraging lessons learned, retrospectives, and data-driven feedback.
  • Baseline key quality KPIs and drive measurable improvement over time.
  • Ensure application or portfolio of platforms are enhanced and maintained to meet business functional need.
  • Monitor team effectiveness and address issues affecting team productivity.
  • Remove roadblocks and obstacles; manage interdependencies when needed.
  • Initiate and foster collaborative partnerships with current and potential clients, technology and business managers, vendors and technology executives.
  • Manage the quality of work delivered by team members and deal effectively with performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and deliver performance reviews and drive professional development, including rotations and special assignments.
  • Facilitate or provide mentoring experiences. Provide relevant technical coaching and support to team members.
  • Hire talent and actively engage in recruiting processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure talent management, on-boarding and transition are performed in a consistent manner.
  • Participate in the development of business and/or technology vision, strategies, critical success factors and operating plans for application, unit or platform.
  • Proven track record in software quality engineering, assurance, or testing management roles within large-scale, multi-team programs or enterprises.
  • Deep expertise in E2E testing strategies, automation frameworks, and quality measurement approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing quality standards and governance across diverse SDLC phases and business domains.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, integration points, and complex system landscapes (API contracts, data flows, vendor platforms).
  • Hands-on experience with modern quality tools, test automation platforms, observability tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence senior stakeholders across business, technology, and vendor functions.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including coaching and mentoring specialists.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and change management skills.
  • Experience in the insurance, financial services, or highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Liberty Mutual’s quality strategy, standards, and platforms is a plus.
  • Exposure to AI-driven testing, performance engineering, or security assurance practices.
