About The Position

The Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer, also known as the Lean Champion, plays a pivotal role in driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives within the York, PA facility of Matthews Memorialization. This position is designed for an internal expert who possesses a comprehensive understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies. The Lean Champion is responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement and waste elimination, engaging employees at all levels to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The incumbent will work closely with the Kaizen Steering Committee to develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for Lean implementation across the organization, ensuring that best practices are not only established but also adhered to throughout the facility. In this role, the Lean Champion will facilitate cross-functional teams, driving breakthrough performance in various operational metrics such as people engagement, quality, cost efficiency, material flow, and information flow. The Lean Champion will also be tasked with developing a Lean Work Plan, utilizing a data-driven approach to problem-solving, and providing feedback and direction to teams. Key responsibilities include leading initiatives that leverage Lean tools to improve safety, quality, delivery, and overall value while systematically eliminating waste. The Lean Champion will execute Rapid Improvement events, monitor and track the outcomes of Lean initiatives, and present formal reports to stakeholders, ensuring that improvements are documented and communicated effectively. The Lean Champion will also develop a scorecard of key metrics to monitor progress before and after process redesigns, assuring that product and process quality goals are met in a timely manner. This position requires a proactive approach to leadership, as the Lean Champion will need to build trust with supervision and act as a support resource for Lean initiatives throughout the organization. The role is critical in maintaining the momentum of Lean efforts and ensuring that the organization remains committed to its continuous improvement objectives.
