The Quality Engineer is responsible for the compliance of the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System to applicable standards (ISO-9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, etc.), to customer requirements, and to Ramco internal standards. This role ensures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing effective work systems, validating processes, and providing clear documentation. The position involves interaction with customers to ensure their requirements are met, performing all aspects of PPAP development, and collaborating with other departments to resolve production quality issues. The Quality Engineer will also prepare quality documentation, lead improvement teams, conduct audits, and maintain a cooperative attitude towards other employees.

  • Interact with customers to ensure that customer requirements are understood and met, and to resolve any customer complaints.
  • Perform all aspects of PPAP development including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, IMDS submissions, dimensional checking, performance testing, and other activities as required.
  • Interact with other company departments to ensure compliance of products with customer requirements and provide expertise to help resolve production quality issues.
  • Understand and communicate the requirements of international standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 within the company.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing quality and production data.
  • Act as an internal resource to other departments by providing technical expertise on quality, statistical, and fastener subjects.
  • Act as leader or facilitator for improvement or problem-solving teams, may supervise one or more quality technicians on a project basis.
  • Prepare work instructions.
  • Lead the Fast-Response team meetings.
  • Use the company MRP system to research lot traceability information and track or quarantine parts when necessary.
  • Work with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to ensure that Ramco quality requirements are met.
  • Conduct internal QMS/EMS audits, internal product audits, and supplier audits. Report audit results and follow up on any corrective actions.
  • Interact with outside auditors during the 3rd party and customer audits.
  • Use customer and 3rd party computer systems and websites to ensure effective transfer of quality-related information.
  • Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management, participating in educational opportunities, and maintaining personal networks.
  • Always behave in a safe and professional manner.
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude toward other employees.
  • 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding of fasteners, fastener manufacturing, fastener testing, and fastener dimensional and performance standards.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949, and ISO 14001.
  • Experience with basic measurement tools (calipers, mics, gauges).
  • Understanding of statistical subjects (Normal distribution, SPC).
  • Experience with automotive PPAP’s (Flow diagram, FMEA, Control Plan).
  • Experience developing work instructions or inspection plans.
  • Understanding of the 'process approach' to auditing.
  • Understanding of structured problem solving (8D, DMAIC, 5-WHY, Drill-Deep-and-Wide).
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and demanding customer representatives.
  • Experience dealing with supplier issues.
  • Able to routinely interact, in a professional manner, with other company departments.
  • Proficient in MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • ASQ, 6-Sigma or Lean certification.
