The Process Engineer will be responsible for statistically monitoring quality, implementing improvements, and troubleshooting processes and equipment for the Color Compounding and Turf Extrusion Departments. This role involves participating in activities that foster continuous improvement and investigating off-quality performance. The Process Engineer will utilize Six Sigma tools to drive improvements.

  • Participate in Internal SMS Audits
  • Participate in External SMS Audits
  • Work with all Departments to reduce Nonconforming Product
  • Work with yarn vendors and equipment suppliers to ensure products meet expectations
  • Work with yarn customers to resolve off quality issues
  • Coach Trainers/QCs/Mentors using quality data to drive improvement
  • Improve Standard Work focusing on Safety, Quality and Productivity
  • Drive root cause analysis and preventive measures for Off Quality
  • Participate in customer feedback and customer visits
  • Work with Maintenance and lab associates in the Lab to maintain equipment (calibrations)
  • Serve as a backup to the Quality Manager
  • Participate in SPC activities as a user of Infinity software and Minitab
  • Modify and develop procedures in SMS (AoDocs)
  • Comply with procedures found in the Shaw Management System (SMS)
  • Attend SPC, Tier VI, Turf Tape Line/Quality and any additional meetings as requested
  • Assist QIT meetings as requested
  • Track and monitor all Corrective Actions within the Facility
  • Work with Yarn Technical to evaluate new/existing yarn systems
  • Review and Monitor I-Color/Infinity Data in the department (Color Compounding/Turf)
  • Assist the Quality Manager, as needed
  • Four (4) year Engineering degree required
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt trained or willingness to complete training
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Pivot Tables etc)
  • Previous manufacturing experience (preferred)
