About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Quality Engineer to join our Arlington team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products, particularly those for the automotive and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) sectors, meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will provide technical leadership, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and lead a team of quality professionals to achieve excellence in all aspects of the quality management system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a Quality Engineering role.
  • Proven experience leading and working with technical teams.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry with Surface Mount Technology and Automated Assembly processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC).
  • Expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Ensure adherence to IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-600 as applicable).
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong data analysis skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Resilience: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in either the automotive industry (Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier) or within a high-volume Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment.
  • Green belt or Black belt Six Sigma certification is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works with and supports the Quality Manager in the development of QA compliance objectives and ensures that targets are achieved.
  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team and across the organization.
  • Oversee the site's compliance with ISO 9001 standards and support improving the QMS processes and documentation.
  • Supports the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new product introductions (NPI).
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, FMEAs (DFMEA/PFMEA), and Process Flows.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Manual, Semi-Automatic, and Automatic assemblies, ensuring adherence to the quality requirements across production.
  • Implement and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) to achieve process stability and capability.
  • Lead the containment activities, failure investigation, and root cause analysis for internal and external quality issues (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
  • Champion and participant in the running MRB process (Material Review Board) and SCRAP reduction plan for SMA products.
  • Act as the primary quality contact for Customer Complaints (SCAR), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and other Customer requirements.
  • Manage customer complaints, lead the 8D process, and ensure timely and effective closure.
  • Prepare and present NPI Dashboards, performance results, and reports to customers and management.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, PDCA) to reduce defects, improve yield and enhance process efficiency.
  • Analyze quality data (e.g., DPPM, FPY, FTY, OEE) to identify trends and lead projects to address them.
