About The Position

Quanex IG is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team located in Cambridge, OH. The Quality Engineer assists with the development and implementation of quality assurance programs under ISO 9000 guidelines. Work under general supervision and responsible for quality assurance training, managing, and maintaining the location’s ISO 9000 system. Will conduct internal and supplier audits and providing work direction to Q.A. Lab personnel. Works closely with suppliers to ensure the reliability of products and conformance requirements. Primary liaison between customers, or suppliers, and Quanex on quality-related issues. We Offer You! Requirements

  • 5-7 years related experience in a Quality position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Engineering or related discipline.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical background is required to compile statistical data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience in using MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Works with operations, manufacturing and product engineering, suppliers, and customers to develop quality standards and specifications that can be economically maintained to ensure product acceptability.
  • Visit customers on a routine or emergency basis to resolve quality issues and verify supplier quality systems on the production floor.
  • Prepare written reports of supplier quality audits.
  • Develop, maintain, and track supplier quality audit materials, and supplier quality metrics.
  • Assure accuracy of quality documentation including hold tags, inspection reports, data collection, supplier inspection reports and test reports.
  • Administer divisional ISO training and certification process to ensure everyone within the internal auditing process is qualified.
  • Assures that all products and services conform to specified requirements and are made in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Assures that the documentation required by the ISO9000 quality system is kept current and all procedures and documents are properly controlled.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams in problem solving sessions to establish definitive root cause and effective corrective actions for both internal and supplier quality issues.
  • Perform all inspection tasks in emergency, temporary absences, or other appropriate circumstances.
  • Work within the Quality Group of the Operations Department.
  • While primarily focused on the quality of finished products, there is considerable involvement with the quality of incoming materials and the Quanex I. G. Systems ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 systems.
  • Travel as needed to various company facilities.
