The Role – What You’ll Do! Engineering Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production. Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques; Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues. Resolve quality issues by identifying root cause problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources through timely use of corrective actions. Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality improvement efforts. Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new process design and startup. Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring. Lead the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Create and maintain Control Plans and FMEA's throughout the life of process. Identify, implement, and support use of enhanced gaging and inspection devices to support control plans, first article inspection, and process improvement projects. Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action. Lead Continuous Improvement Projects as deemed necessary based on risks and opportunities. Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques. Determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools. Systems Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved corporate quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs. Support and participate in internal and external quality audits. Oversee the controlled document system, to include final review of all changes to procedures, work instructions, forms, and other associated documents to ensure ISO 9001 requirements are met. Oversee gage management system and ensure appropriate use and protection practices are in place for shop floor. Manage Non-Conformance and Rework process to ensure trends are monitored and addressed as needed and rework is completed to within specified tolerances. Qualifications That Move Us! Bachelor’s degree in engineering (prefer Manufacturing or Industrial) or an associate’s degree in a similar field with 7+ years of progressive experience in Quality Improvement roles. 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing and supply chain environment, actively driving improvement. Mechanical aptitude (i.e., intuitive understanding of mechanical processes). Previous work experience in an organization that supplied manufactured products to direct customers. Advocating as the "voice of the customer," pursuing the highest quality expectations from the organization. Previous ISO QMS and EMS Auditing experience. Technical knowledge of laser cutting, tube/sheet forming, welding, and machining processes. Project management experience. Certified Quality Engineer through ASQ. Working knowledge of GD&T standards. Experience with CAD design systems (Inventor) and inspection systems (Polyworks, V-Tube).
