Introduction The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Assurance organization by applying fundamental engineering and problem-solving skills to ensure product conformity, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. This role partners with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure basic quality requirements are correctly interpreted and flowed into production documentation. The QE I assists with inspection planning, First Article documentation, internal audits, corrective action support, and customer quality activities under direct guidance.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to participate in structured RCA activities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across departments.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and apply quality tools, FAIR requirements, and inspection methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to ERP/ MES systems preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams under guidance and supervision.
  • Commitment to learning quality standards, customer requirements, and compliance expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 1–2 years of engineering or manufacturing experience (internship/co-op acceptable).
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 preferred.
  • Stro ng analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and related documentation.
  • Support customer source inspections and prepare required documentation packages.
  • Review sales orders to confirm quality requirements and generate Quality Control Instructions (QCIs).
  • Participate in internal investigations and support root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Update and maintain quality procedures, forms, and inspection criteria.
  • Support training on workmanship standards and quality requirements.
  • Assist in preparing basic quality metrics, KPIs, and trend charts.
  • Support internal audits and nonconformance reviews.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.
