As a Quality Engineer you will implement Department Quality policies and systems following customer requirements, applicable standards, and regulations You will report to the Manager of Quality Engineering and be located at Columbia, SC. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 0+ years of experience
  • In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Hands-on experience building small prototypes
  • Proficiency with analytical tools, workflow time studies, and process balancing
  • Collaborate with program managers, manufacturing leads, customers, and functional leads, and to provide daily direction and guidance to other process engineers, and operators

Responsibilities

  • Direct assessments of operations and identify opportunities for performance improvement through internal quality assessments, environmental/health and safety reviews, total quality reviews.
  • Recommend and influence operations to take appropriate corrective actions, resolve quality issues and implement performance improvement. Integrate assessment results into Business Unit Quality policies and systems.
  • Lead, co-ordinate and integrate complex projects which encompass multi-areas.
  • Monitor progress and direct teams to achieve established budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Review design engineering documentation to verify compliance with technical QA requirements. This includes requirements for design, manufacture, construction, and installation of nuclear power plant primary and secondary loop structures, systems, and components, and modifications thereof. Additionally, this verification process applies to non-nuclear projects.
  • Identify deviations that could create safety/environmental hazards or cause malfunctions.
  • Work as team member with cognizant personnel to implement corrective actions.
  • Assess and identify issues with supplier performance to assure best cost/value for procured products and services through audits, surveillances, commercial grade surveys, supplier partnerships.
  • Refine processes through development of automated systems to improve productivity and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate changes in Quality policies and systems. Conduct educational and training programs.
  • Work with industry organizations and influence appropriate industry quality changes.
  • Lead on internal and industry process improvement committees.
  • Provide support to systems assessment process owners.
  • Be the quality liaison/coordinator for third-party inquiries, including government regulatory agencies, customers, licensees, ASME, ISO.
  • Lead teams to direct QA scope for major contracts and serve as customer interface.
  • Communicate directly with customer to integrate Westinghouse plans and procedures with customer requirements.
  • Provide team members with periodic updates and recommendations regarding nature and status of work.
