About The Position

The Quality Engineer supports the manufacturing floor with quality issues, drives proactive quality planning, and monitors process capability and control.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a technical field
  • Quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with NQA-1, AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • This position will require a pre­-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance. Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made. In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior quality assurance engineering experience
  • AS9145 or IATF 16949 Advanced Product Quality Planning program exposure
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) experience
  • Proficient in the fundamentals of GD&T
  • An understanding of statistics and practical application to the manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of SPC and the deployment of quality tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience using Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Training and experience in root cause analysis
  • Experience in high-precision metal forming, machining, or finishing processes
  • Experience in composite manufacturing
  • ASQ CQE, Six Sigma, and/or Lead Auditor certification
  • Previous leadership experience on Kaizen or Improvement projects
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Advanced Product Quality Planning activities including PFMEA's, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis
  • Develop inspection plans. Identify required instrumentation and gaging.
  • Develop process capability metrics for products and utilize statistical methods to develop and implement capability improvements
  • Determine sampling frequencies and quantities for inspection plans for manufactured and procured parts
  • Review First Article Inspection packages
  • Review procurement specifications, design specifications, fabrication procedures, maintenance work packages, and other documents for incorporation of appropriate quality controls
  • Review inspections for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in implementation of nonconformance processing
  • Lead the investigation of escapes to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Utilize product and process knowledge to develop and implement process and management system improvement opportunities
  • Lead evaluation of test equipment and precision measuring instruments
  • Apply Lean principles to develop product, process, and manufacturing improvements
