About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer (Mid-level, Senior or Lead) to join our team located in Hazelwood, MO! Level 3: Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation. Provides Quality interpretation of requirements. Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements. Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities. Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs. Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness. Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances. Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions. Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances. Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved. Works under general direction. Level 4: Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation. Provides interpretation of complex requirements. Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements. Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities. Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs. Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness. Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances. Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions. Develops and implements corrective actions. Performs benchmarking and other forms of advanced analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved. Works under minimal direction. Level 5: Advises others in the preparation of significant bids and proposals. Authors Quality plans for major programs. Advises suppliers and business partners in the development of their Quality plans to ensure the flowdown of requirements. Consults at the business unit level to develop Quality criteria for supplier selection. Oversees the development of methods, procedures and metrics to ensure quality standards and practices for large programs and derivatives. Leads verification reviews to ensure adequate surveillance to validate product and process Quality requirements. Develops new methods for conducting product and process validation. Represents Quality in design reviews of the inter-relationship of multiple systems. Advises on development of methods for testing and approval of products, processes, equipment and measurement systems to ensure manufacturing and test readiness. Performs benchmarking of enterprise best practices. Leads cross-functional continuous Quality improvement efforts. Develops new applications for advanced statistical methods. Works under consultative direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • 3+ years of experience with quality Inspection and/or auditing
  • 3+ years of experience with root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) methods
  • 3+ years of experience working with Non-conformance (NCR) processes
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required).

Responsibilities

  • Represent/Lead/Advise on integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Provide/Interpret complex Quality requirements.
  • Develop quality metrics, design and production certification plans for programs (small, large, major) to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct/Develop/Consult on Quality criteria and capability assessments for supplier selection.
  • Participate/Lead various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Perform/Develop/Select methods for analysis, testing and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Provide material review dispositions for non-conformances and assist in developing new standards repairs.
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
