About The Position

Bigbelly Solar is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support product and process quality at our manufacturing facility in Methuen, Massachusetts. This role is responsible for ensuring that manufactured products meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. The Quality Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects, and support a strong culture of quality in a small, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a quality engineering or manufacturing quality role
  • Experience working in a small or mid-sized manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (CAPA, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromechanical, metal fabrication, or assembly manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems
  • ASQ certification (CQE) or Lean/Six Sigma training
  • Experience working with ERP or quality management systems

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain Bigbelly’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, work instructions, and customer requirements
  • Assist with internal audits and support external audits as required
  • Maintain quality documentation, records, and corrective action tracking
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and quality checks for in-house manufacturing and assembly
  • Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive
  • Support first article inspections, engineering changes, and new product introductions
  • Work directly on the manufacturing floor to identify quality risks and improvement opportunities
  • Support incoming inspection processes and nonconformance management
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and improve supplier performance
  • Review supplier corrective actions and assist with supplier quality evaluations
  • Investigating customer quality issues and complaints
  • Prepare corrective action responses and support customer communication as needed
  • Analyze warranty, field, or service data to identify trends and improvement actions
  • Drive defect reduction, scrap reduction, and yield improvement initiatives
  • Partner with manufacturing and engineering to improve product reliability and consistency
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts
