About The Position

L3Harris’ Public Safety and Professional Communciations business unit is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Forest, Virginia facility (On-Site). The Quality Engineer will contribute to the company’s success by engaging with our stakeholders to prevent and correct quality issues. This role will report directly to the Manager, Quality Engineering.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant Quality engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related Quality engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related Quality erngineering experience.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Six Sigma, LEAN
Experience with ISO9001, including internal auditing.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement quality processes and procedures
Collaborate with both internal (Operations, Engineering, and Program Management) as well as external customers to ensure quality standards are in place and are being properly executed
Determine root cause for products or services that do not meet required standards and specifications and implement effective corrective action
Write inspection procedures and assist in reviewing and evaluating rejected material and/or workmanship and determine proper dispositions
Analyze quality performance and collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop improvement plans for identified problem areas
Perform internal ISO9001 audits
Ability to travel up to 10%
Ability to obtain US Clearance
Lead projects to improve or enhance systems and processes affecting quality
Utilize data analytics to prioritize efforts and inform decision making
Contributes to development of goals for the department
Drive frontloading quality initiatives with engineering to influence design for quality (DFQ)
Lead advanced product quality planning (APQP) initiatives.
