The Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier, manufacturing, and product quality, as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Note: These duties represent the general scope of the role and may evolve to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, management, customers, and external vendors.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with analytical ability to interpret and implement contractual requirements.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Objective, sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position (sitting, computer work, repetitive motions).
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a noisy manufacturing environment and collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred.
  • Experience with NQA-1 standard preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in contract review to ensure suppliers meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Create inspection test plans (ITPs) per customer requirements, including subcontractor witness points as needed.
  • Control and distribute raw material specifications.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits as required.
  • Serve as project leader/facilitator for continuous improvement opportunities identified by senior management.
  • Provide support to testing and inspection functions during production runs.
  • Develop and implement quality systems, including standards, SOPs, and control systems for production and processes.
  • Design and perform product and process inspections/tests to ensure specifications are met.
  • Analyze quality data, generate reports, and monitor performance metrics to identify improvement areas.
  • Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of quality issues with manufacturing and/or vendors.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and client requirements (e.g., ISO).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, supply chain) to integrate quality into all stages.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and facilitate annual supplier evaluations.
  • Train staff in quality control procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including reports, specifications, and audit records.
