We have a unique opportunity for a Quality Engineer that specializes in Technical writing. Job Summary: The Quality Engineer’s primary responsibility is to coordinate the First Article Acceptance (FAAT), Product Conformance (PCA) process and ensure that quality requirements are met for new product launches. This is accomplished by facilitating the FAI/PPAP submission process and coordinating with engineering to ensure process integrity. Quality Engineer shall also be responsible for validating product or process changes and for monitoring existing products or product lines that require ongoing quality verification or validation. This position will also be responsible for the creation of data packages that will need to be provided to the end customer.

Requirements

  • Technical/associate or bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Quality Technician or equivalent
  • Understand the process of FAAT and PCA for military contracts
  • Able to read and understand engineering prints with associated GD&T identifiers.
  • Working knowledge of FAIs, PPAPs, PFMEAs, and process mapping procedures
  • Statistical math skills to include SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA/Gauge studies, and trend/regression analysis
  • Mechanical aptitude to assemble/disassemble and troubleshoot complex part assemblies
  • Effectively break down job processes and document in a clear, concise format
  • Advanced PC skills with emphasis on spreadsheet creation and working knowledge in current versions of Mini Tab
  • Accurately measure product with lab devices such as Micrometer, Caliper, Indicators and other mechanical measuring devices.
  • A working knowledge of devices such as CMM/VMM and Spectrophotometer
  • Working knowledge of the molding process and its engineering requirements
  • Work effectively in a self-directed environment

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ certified Quality Engineer and/or Six Sigma certified
  • Military experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Managers to facilitate the FAAT/PCA process
  • Perform contract reviews to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Facilitate the FAI process to include PSW, PPAP, PFMEA or other as required
  • Provide measurement analysis to requirements (SPC, capability indices, MSA/gauge studies, etc.)
  • Review process flows and create control plans
  • Coordinate gauging requirements with Engineering
  • Validate manufacturing processes
  • Assist in quality validations for product or process changes
  • Monitor existing product that requires ongoing quality validation
