Position Summary: The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and maintains and improves the quality level of material received from outside vendors and of internally finished products.

Requirements

  • Detail oriented with a logical and methodical approach.
  • Exceptional documentation skills and attention to accuracy when taking and recording measurements
  • Competence with measurement equipment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be tactful and use discretion to point out problems to co-workers.
  • Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and tasks will be required for success in the job.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff from hourly workers to company executives.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • 1 year Quality Control experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9000 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Document material non-conformances and lead material resolution/disposition process.
  • Prepare Corrective Action Request (CAR) reports and process returns to vendors.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Process First Article Samples (FAS); perform FAS inspection, confirm conformance to design, and prepare audit reports for FAS disposition.
  • Oversee audits of in-process and final products; conduct visual and functional tests to verify conformance of products to design and quality standards, identify and document the root cause of any non-conformance, and implement corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Maintain measurement equipment.
  • Respond to customer complaints, including processing Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs), perform root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining control plans, calibration status, and procedures.
  • Lead the team to reduce scrap and COPQ.
