About The Position

The Quality Engineer will support the space program SLS Core Stage, SPIE, EUS and/or integration work located at Marshall Space Flight Center or Local Contract Vendor location in Huntsville, AL Specific support is for MSFC MSMAS contract - MSFC. RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and develops S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs. Prepare, evaluate and, provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related documentation including implementation of procedures. Specifically with Contractor Manufacturing Systems. Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Directorate Organizational Instructions. Support the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects. Participate in Government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation. Develop/utilize tools to assure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs/projects. Perform drawing and procurement documentation review. Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and NC resolutions, test, failure investigations, RCCA analysis and other QE related functions. Develop Metrics as needed. Act as a SMA Lead on applicable projects, coordinating with discipline resources for Reliability, Safety, and QA as required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or related field .
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with a minimum 9 years of recent and related experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge in NASA S&MA requirements for Manufacturing Processes in support of the design and development of Flight Hardware.
  • Possess a working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Insight, Risk-Based, or COTs type contracts as well as Compliance-Based Contract and services is highly desirable.
  • Launch Vehicle Integration experience is highly desirable
  • Experience working with NASA/DoD flight hardware in a Manufacturing and Production Environment
  • Integrated Product Team Experience
  • Previous Experience as a QA, or ability to develop QA Inspector capability is highly desired.
