About The Position

In this role, you will provide product quality and engineering support for customer related concerns and issues relating to products supplied by Standard Motor Products. Specific responsibilities include investigating and issuing reports on the cause of common product returns and resolving quality concerns with Catalog, Resale, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments. You will generate, issue, and track product correction documents, log quality concerns, and provide detailed analysis while maintaining database entries and reporting on evaluation status. Additionally, you will generate warranty return trend reports for SMP Management, consolidate corrective action reports from various SMP locations, and support ISO9001 compliance & registration. You will also provide product and quality support to customer inquiries, evaluate and disposition potential supplier’s product, and work with suppliers to implement design changes and corrective action plans as required. Communication with buyers, suppliers, online customers, and other departments and divisions will be conducted through web meetings, telephone, e-mail, and in person.

Requirements

  • Engineering or Technical Degree (Quality, Automotive, Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time work experience
  • Certification in Quality Engineering a plus
  • Experience in technical writing, supplier quality, failure analysis, automotive parts or service is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft® Word and Excel is required.

Responsibilities
