Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented BIW Measurement Room Manager to lead our dimensional inspection and quality verification operations. This role will oversee the measurement room dedicated to Body-in-White (BIW) validation using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), optical 3D scanning systems, Meisterbock and cubing tools. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in automotive body geometry, GD&T, metrology software, and quality system compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in BIW dimensional analysis, body joining, or vehicle launch engineering.
  • Expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and root cause analysis of dimensional variation.
  • Familiarity with weld and adhesive joint designs and body assembly processes.
  • Experience with metrology systems (CMM, laser scan, optical measurement systems) and data interpretation tools (Pi Web).
  • Strong knowledge of automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Excellent understanding of complete vehicle production processes.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and software (e.g., FMEA, Six Sigma, Minitab).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze full vehicle and BIW measurement data to evaluate body fit, gap and flush, and dimensional stability.
  • Lead root cause investigations for body dimensional variation using GD&T principles, CAD comparison, and plant measurement data.
  • Work with metrology teams to optimize datum strategy, measurement points, and body location systems.
  • Ensure proper integration of closures, glass, trim, and exterior systems to BIW structure to achieve world-class craftsmanship.
  • Analyze and drive resolution of gap & flush concerns across build phases (VFF, PVS, Job 1).
  • Develop and track dimensional quality KPIs, driving continuous improvement across pre-production builds.
  • Partner with supplier quality, body shop, and final assembly teams to ensure dimensional integrity is achieved through tooling, fixtures, and process control.
  • Support body shop launch readiness through analysis during VFF through SOP, BIW build quality, and joining execution.
  • Use digital tools (e.g., Q-DAS, CM4D, PolyWorks, 3DCS, Pi Web) to track and analyze measurement and quality data.
  • Identify deviations, defects, or process variation in the production process or final vehicle assembly.
  • Work with relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Lead the timing plan of open issue closures.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Develop strategies to proactively address potential quality issues.
  • Develop lessons learned and root cause analysis catalogues.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings on issue resolution.
  • Prepare detailed summarizing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality action plans to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability throughout the problem-solving process.
