About The Position

We’re hiring a SMT Quality Engineer to be the primary quality owner for Meadowbrook’s SMT manufacturing line. This role is plant-based and reports to the Meadowbrook Quality Manager within the Electronics Manufacturing business unit. You’ll be hands-on in solder paste printing, pick & place, reflow, AOI, and test processes, ensuring compliance with IPC-A-610 Class 3 and automotive OEM customer requirements while driving defect prevention and launch readiness. The Meadowbrook Quality team ensures robust quality performance across UCAP and related electronic assemblies. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the group plays a critical role in the electronics supply chain by embedding workmanship standards, maintaining compliance to customer-specific requirements, and supporting new program launches. This position is pivotal in connecting plant-floor execution with the broader commitment to safety-critical electronics and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in electronics or SMT manufacturing quality.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 (Class 3 preferred).
  • Experience with quality core tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, root cause analysis).

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-A-610 CIS or CIT certification.
  • Experience supporting OEM customer requirements, including FEMR or similar assessments.
  • Familiarity with AOI systems, reflow profiling, and SMT defect analysis.
  • Automotive or safety-critical electronics manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own SMT line quality performance, ensuring defect-free production and compliance with IPC-A-610 Class 3 and OEM customer standards (i.e. FEMR).
  • Provide daily production support, including first-piece approvals, defect disposition, and containment of nonconforming product.
  • Lead structured problem solving (8D) for SMT-related defects, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update Control Plans and PFMEAs to reflect process changes and corrective actions.
  • Monitor SMT quality metrics (AOI data, defect trends, rework) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support customer launch activities, audits, and production readiness evaluations.
