The Quality Engineer/Quality Team Supervisor at ITW Shakeproof Fasteners is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes, managing a team of quality technicians, and ensuring that products meet customer specifications. This role involves active participation in new product development, managing quality concerns, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the organization. The position requires collaboration with various departments to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

  • Supervise quality technician team and manage inspection/quality practices to eliminate escapes and minimize customer returns.
  • Review and track all internal and customer quality concerns (NCRs) and work with relevant teams to determine corrective actions.
  • Participate in the APQP process for new product development and launch, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and Design for Manufacturability.
  • Manage various projects related to new equipment installations and safety upgrades, coordinating capital projects as needed.
  • Assist in contract review and develop/maintain inspection/approval criteria and process sheets for product realization.
  • Report on the performance of the QMS and recommend improvements during Management Reviews.
  • Maintain all Quality Assurance records and manage the MRB process.
  • Drive cost improvement and continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
  • Conduct cost studies for new processes and develop improvements for current manufacturing methods.
  • Update plant layout/line drawings in CAD and support the design team with tooling drawings.
  • Provide training and indirect mentoring to employees, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Metals or Automotive industries.
  • Proficiency in ISO 9001, TS 16949, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and 2D/3D CAD systems like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and auditing processes.
