About The Position

Mytra is seeking its foundational Quality Engineering Manager to build and champion a culture of quality across our hardware and supply chain operations. This is a unique opportunity to design, implement, and own our entire quality strategy from the ground up. You'll be the hands-on expert working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing—establishing robust quality systems from incoming parts and vendor qualifications to final product assembly. If you're a detail-oriented, action-driven leader passionate about building the quality foundation in a fast-moving, innovative hardware environment, we want to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Education: BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in Quality Engineering, with a preference for experience in a startup, robotics, high-volume manufacturing, or complex electromechanical hardware environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven strong hands-on inspection experience and comfort working in lab, shop floor, or supplier site settings.
  • Quality Systems Knowledge: Proficient use of core quality tools such as FMEA, 5-Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and 8D problem solving.
  • Supplier Management: Extensive experience working with, qualifying, auditing, and managing Contract Manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Mindset: Comfort and proven success in a dynamic, fast-changing startup environment where establishing new processes is the norm.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in early-stage NPI (New Product Introduction) cycles and prototype manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP/PLM systems.
  • Familiarity with standards like GD&T, IPC, or robotics system integration.
  • Certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma, or experience with ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Quality Management: Build supplier quality processes from scratch, including rigorous vendor qualification, ongoing performance tracking, and leading formal Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
  • Inspection & Control: Establish and execute incoming part inspection protocols for critical mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components.
  • Perform hands-on inspections using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and CMM.
  • Maintain and manage all essential part approval documentation, including FAIs (First Article Inspections), PPAPs, and Control Plans.
  • Design & Manufacturing Quality: Collaborate with engineering during early-stage Design Reviews, focusing on DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) and proactive quality risk mitigation (FMEA).
  • Ensure engineering drawings are developed to enable effective quality control and inspection practices.
  • Support prototype and production runs by leading quality checks with the build and assembly teams.
  • Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement: Lead or support Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions (RCCA) for internal defects, incoming material issues, and field failures using methodologies like 8D and 5-Whys.
  • Define and track internal quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all relevant teams.
  • Develop and maintain critical quality documentation, including inspection Work Instructions, checklists, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Benefits
