About The Position

The Quality Engineer role requires the ability to work with others, is self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision, has a skill set that will enable and drive continuous improvement of process to ensure compliance to the site Quality systems, Customer Quality requirements, Honeywell Corporate requirements & Boyne City Specific requirements, and adhering to Health, Safety, & Environmental Compliance of the Boyne City facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality Management or related field.
  • 2-3 years directly related experience or a minimum of 5-7 years of industrial manufacturing leadership & work with quality and related matters.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills backed up with competence in the use of Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Team Center, File Center.
  • Strong ability to drive process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/ knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Honeywell Operating Systems (HOS) or Toyota Production Systems (TPS).
  • Knowledge/ experience in GD&T.
  • Advanced Engineering degrees like EE (Electrical Engineering), ME (Mechanical Engineering).
  • Experience in conducting audits and driving quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Drive process initiatives that ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory requirements, government regulations and engineering specifications while ensuring site accountability for governance of the Quality System, product acceptance and product quality.
  • Work with a team of quality engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance strategies, plans, and processes that form the backbone of our quality initiatives.
  • Conduct product and process audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance quality.
  • Solve problems where analysis of a situation is required in order to meet the requirements of the customer.
  • Team with customers, engineering and production teams to solve identified product quality concerns.
  • Utilize Six Sigma tools with a structured problem-solving methodology to identify root cause and develop corrective actions for failure modes identified through failure analysis.
  • Participate in the analysis of the customer concern with the production, engineering team members during the floor evaluation, respond to customer requests for RCCA root cause / corrective action and promote preventative and permanent corrective action to drive Zero PPM.
  • Assist the engineering team in identifying and implementing processes and procedures that reduce cost and PPM while improving product yield, reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Floor support of the production team to initiate, contain and root cause analysis of build issues and ensure that suspect material is effectively contained with appropriate disposition to protect the customer.
  • Assist in the verification of supplier and production parts by using measurement devices (gages, micrometers and other indicating gages) to measure conformity to product drawing specifications and prints.
  • Collaborate with NPI and Manufacturing Engineering team in defining clear and controllable product specifications in line with customer requirements.
  • Support FOD product prevention with continuous improvement by participating in floor walk Quality Gemba and Kaizen events and weekly touch review of products with quality concerns.
  • Review and approve process documentation and work instructions for compliance to specification requirements and industry best practices.
