Summary – basic function of the role The Quality Engineer II provides hands-on quality engineering support across manufacturing operations, with responsibility for administering and continuously improving elements of the Quality Management System (QMS). This role partners closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to reduce variation, improve process capability, and ensure products consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements. The Quality Engineer II uses data-driven problem solving, statistical tools, and structured quality methodologies to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and sustain improvements across production processes. Location: Onsite - Antigo, WI Shift: Monday – Friday; 7 AM to 3PM flexible

  • Proficient in dimensional inspection and metrology equipment:
  • Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, hardness testing equipment
  • Surface roughness analyzers, borescopes, air gauging
  • CMM and standard functional gauges (plug, ring, thread gauges)
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and principles
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial), Quality, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of progressive quality or manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
  • Demonstrated experience with SPC, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and ISO-based quality systems

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, Six Sigma, and GD&T preferred
  • Six Sigma certification (White Belt minimum; higher certification preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain QMS documentation, procedures, and records in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Prepare for, participate in, and support internal and external audits, including third-party and customer audits.
  • Identify, document, and drive closure of nonconformances and corrective actions resulting from audits or quality events.
  • Review and approve internal quality documentation, inspection plans, and work instructions to ensure accuracy and revision control.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, 8D, PDCA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce variation and improve process capability through standard work, error-proofing, and visual management.
  • Develop, implement, and validate corrective and preventive actions; perform effectiveness checks post-implementation.
  • Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and monitor SPC charts, control limits, and process capability metrics (Cp/Cpk).
  • Design and implement in-process inspection models, audit systems, and standard inspection methods.
  • Analyze production data, trends, and variation to support data-driven decision making.
  • Review nonconforming material, scrap, and rework; coordinate containment actions and corrective plans with operations.
  • Manage supplier quality activities including incoming inspection plans, corrective actions, and supplier communication.
  • Support PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and MSA activities as required for new or revised products and processes.
  • Investigate customer complaints and quality feedback; implement containment actions and permanent corrective solutions.
  • Compile and analyze warranty and customer quality data and report findings to leadership.
  • Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) through validation, testing, and quality acceptance activities.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and Auditors.
  • Approve final quality reports and issue quality documentation or certificates when required.
  • Serve as a quality resource to operations, supply chain, engineering, and external partners.
  • Maintain calibration systems for measurement and inspection equipment, including internal and external calibration coordination.
  • Maintain historical quality data to improve accessibility, reporting, and analytics.
  • Report quality or safety concerns and support decision-making to stop production when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Leadership.
