About The Position

Position Summary: The Quality Engineer will be responsible for quality and on-time delivery of chain, kitting operation and other additional motor MODs shipping out of our Indianapolis warehouse. The orders shipped out of this location includes standard chains (stocked to order), special chains (made to order) and cut to length chains as per customer needs, kitting services, idlers, conveying equipment product like head shaft assembly, tail shaft assembly, bearings, sprockets, motor modifications, etc. Our Indianapolis warehouse is strategic location where we stock our product coming out from Mexico, Brazil, Germany and rest of the world. The product is either shipped directly or cut to length as per customer need and then shipped. Key responsibilities: Oversees the processes of chain handling, cutting, kitting, modifications and shipping at IDW to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Monitors on-time delivery and quality of chain, conveying equipment and motors products and implements corrective actions to achieve desired results. Implements Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) tools such as Visual Daily Management (VDM) with Core Value Driver (CVD) metrics – On-time delivery (OTD), Defective Parts per Million (DPPM), area 5S, Backlogs and Past Dues. Ensures correct labeling and product specification on packing lists for product shipped. Completes customer returned material authorization (RMA) on time and reporting weekly update. Completes reporting, red-tagging and scrapping non-conforming products. Completes customer quality documentation including corrective and preventive actions. Completes inspection of finished products as necessary prior to customer shipment. Monitors condition of tools, inspection gauges and other equipment and reporting to leadership. Troubleshoots and escalates issues that delay order shipments. Creates standard operating procedures and documents any future changes. Ensures operators are trained and following all standard work instructions. Approves or rejects orders for shipment based on set quality guidelines. Trains, coaches and motivates operators to be more efficient and quality conscious.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional experience in quality inspection, production supervisor or engineering required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience and education required.
  • Ability to work independently based on set processes/guidelines with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to influence others in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to learn and become familiar with ANSI, DIN, ISO, API, ASTM, including many other industrial standards used by Regal Rexnord and the Regal Rexnord customer base.
  • Ability to read and interpret Regal Rexnord drawings, including reading and interpreting design prints and customer specifications.
  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with subordinates, peers, and executive management
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce.com or other CRM, SAP/Oracle or other ERP.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to be an active listener.
  • Flexibility with work hours to maintain a minimal backlog.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on experience in experience in quality inspection or similar is desired.
  • Hands on experience in CAD tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar is desired.
  • Exposure to engineering experience working in heavy equipment industries preferred.
  • Exposure to Chains or related power transmission equipment is highly desired.
