About The Position

At ChemResearch, the Quality Engineer II is responsible for the continuous improvement of defined customer and NADCAP certification processes for all metal finishing services provided while maintaining specific guidelines for process efficiency and standards outlined in the corporate quality policy. You will work between cross-functional processes to proactively identify potential causes of product and process failures. Using different tools and techniques to identify opportunities for project improvements to help elevate quality key performance indicators and deliver excellent quality services to our customers, all while working in a fast-paced environment that cultivates creativity for new ideas to help drive On-Time-Delivery.

Requirements

  • Has analytical and problem-solving skills while utilizing software solutions. Technical knowledge of metal finishing processes and techniques. Ability to develop and deliver presentations to all levels of an organization.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of business and to work effectively with a wide range of internal/external customers. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Some college education is preferred, and/or three (3) years of reliable work experience in the field of Quality Engineering with the ability to lead others.
  • Requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, and overtime when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio is required. Microsoft Excel knowledge is required including the use of formulas as well as PivotTables, Graphs, and Charts.
  • Must conform to the company’s FAA Drug and Alcohol Program Policy.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to alternate standing and sitting for 8 hours.
  • Ability to see or correct to 20/20.
  • Ability to hear.
  • Ability to distinguish color (pass a colorblind test).
  • Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to stoop and bend.
  • Ability to use arms and hands.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in defining and maintaining certified special process compliance for customer and NADCAP approvals in various coatings, wet processing, and inspection disciplines (anodize, chrome, nickel, silver, copper, electroless nickel plating, phosphate, chemfilm.
  • Organizes both customer and NADCAP audits.
  • Identifies and implements Lean processing practices.
  • Communicates with customers and industry representatives and/or suppliers on special process matters.
  • Assists in developing, evaluating, and driving improvement in special process methods and procedures.
  • May administer and/or coordinate the initial and periodic calibrations, qualifications, and testing for special process equipment and operators.
  • Works well with Quality, Planning, and Operations on project work and on the production floor.
  • Performs internal audits of special processes and other available services to ensure systems and processes are being correctly and effectively controlled.
  • Assists in troubleshooting daily production/quality problems.
  • Performs receiving Inspection and visual inspection of the Plating Process
  • Performs first article inspection and identifies the masking area.
  • Helps train shop floor personnel on visual inspection requirements.
  • Completes Certificate of Conformance (COC)
  • Reevaluates or change planning processes on new or repetitive job processes.
  • Follows all company safety and health procedures for the protection of self and other personnel.
  • Controls and maintains the Approved Processing List (APSL)
  • All other duties as assigned.
