About The Position

The Quality Engineer independently drives product and process quality across the lifecycle—from design and supplier qualification through production, launch, and field performance. This role will own investigations, lead cross functional problem solving, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels to ensure timely, data driven actions. You will partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Service/Warranty, and Supplier Quality to raise the bar on reliability, cost of quality, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Master’s a plus).
  • 4–8+ years in manufacturing quality or quality engineering (custom/complex assemblies ideal).
  • Track record of independent ownership from problem identification through verified closure.
  • Quality Methods & Tools: PFMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC, capability studies, 8D/A3/PDCA, DOE/ANOVA (preferred), APQP/PPAP exposure helpful.
  • Track record of making improvement changes.
  • Standards & Systems: Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS, internal auditing, and non‑conforming material/CAPA processes
  • Data & Software: Proficient with Excel (pivot charts), basic statistical tools; familiarity with Minitab/Tableau or similar is a plus.
  • Communication & Influence: Clear written and verbal communicator; able to brief executives and coach shop‑floor teams; comfortable leading cross‑functional investigations under time pressure.
  • Industry: HVAC/industrial manufacturing familiarity preferred; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/prints required.

  • DOE/ANOVA (preferred)
  • APQP/PPAP exposure helpful.
  • Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Preferred
  • familiarity with Minitab/Tableau or similar is a plus.
  • HVAC/industrial manufacturing familiarity preferred
  • ASQ CQE/CQA, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured problem solving (8D, A3, PDCA) for internal defects, escapes, customer complaints, and supplier issues; implement and verify effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support compliance to the Quality System with emphasis on corrective actions, non-conforming material, and reporting.
  • Own quality planning for new and changed products (control plans, PFMEA, inspection/test methods, special characteristics); support NPI/launch containment and early quality execution.
  • Key Contact for Customer Quality Relations: serve as a primary technical point of contact for customers regarding product quality concerns, performance issues, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze quality data (in‑process, final, supplier, field/warranty) to spot trends, prioritize top offenders using risk based evaluation, and convert insights into actions that reduce scrap, rework, DPPM, and COPQ.
  • Maintain and improve the QMS (ISO 9001): perform/lead internal audits, manage nonconforming material and corrective action systems, and contribute to management reviews.
  • Drive cross‑functional collaboration (Engineering, Manufacturing, Service/Warranty, Supplier Quality) to resolve issues quickly and to validate design/supplier changes through fit‑for‑purpose testing and reliability methods.
  • Develop standards and procedures (work instructions, inspection criteria, process documents) and ensure documentation accuracy and change control.
  • Coach peers and technicians on problem‑solving tools, measurement methods, and quality fundamentals; lead ad‑hoc tiger teams as needed.
  • Communicate status crisply to stakeholders—issue definition, root cause, interim containment, corrective action, and confirmation of effectiveness—with on‑time updates and clear visuals.
