About The Position

The Quality Engineer is the technical resource within the QA function. The primary objective of the position is to champion the development, improvement, implementation, and validation of effective and efficient processes, systems, tools, methods, and requirements, ensuring that Mustang Survival products are of the highest quality. Strives to consistently reflect Mustang Survival’s vision, values and goals in all undertakings by actively and enthusiastically assisting internal & external customers; continuously increasing personal level of expertise in the position and profession; driving continuous improvement in products, processes and systems, and demonstrating a high level of professionalism, communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent education and experience in a related field.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical specifications, drawings, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, Windows and Internet is required.
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards.
  • Integrity and willingness to be the voice of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform product and quality system audits.
  • Willing to perform all other quality related tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work with autotomy, find answers/solutions with colleagues and driving actions to completion with efficiency.
  • Strong mechanical ability (hands-on skill) combined a natural aptitude for problem solving.
  • Knowledge of the setup and implementation of testing protocols, and the design, specification, and construction of test equipment. Knowledge of programming knowledge and methodology is an asset.
  • Ability to prepare professional technical reports and presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in garment prototyping, alteration repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and improves the specification of performance/documentation requirements, testing techniques, inspection methods, reliability standards and overall quality.
  • Conducts internal quality reviews, process/product evaluations, and failure analysis.
  • Understands and champions customer quality requirements by planning and coordinating implementation of Quality Control Plans at all manufacturing locations.
  • Compiles and maintains evidence of conformance to requirements and generates technical reports for internal and external customers.
  • Applying advanced quality management techniques (i.e. Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean, etc), the Quality Engineer audits, analyzes, maps, and improves processes that impact the business.
  • Develops and implements efficient and effective QMS tools, procedures, and associated information & documentation.
  • Takes a lead role in sourcing, evaluating, and implementing new inspection, measuring, and test equipment. Designs, builds, and maintains specialized testing equipment.
  • The Quality Engineer is an active and key member of product development project teams. Performs quality planning, prototype evaluation, design reviews, design verification/validation, first article inspection, test and inspection planning, and data analysis.
  • Develops qualification and acceptance test plans and reports, and performs testing as required.
  • Supports RFP bids and Contract fulfillment through the application of requirements analysis, project support/oversight, and transformation of requirements into Mustang Survival systems and processes.
  • Analyzes raw material and product non-conformances via failure/root cause analysis, dispositions them, and conducts compliance follow-up.
  • Eliminates recurring non-conformances through Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).
  • Plans, investigates, executes, and reports on CAPA items.
  • Investigates, resolves, and prevents recurrence of customer complaints.
  • Assesses and analyzes Supplier quality performance (remotely and on-site), initiates appropriate Supplier CAPA reports.
  • Specifies required supplier capabilities and responsibilities.
  • Supports the development and implementation of quality processes related to raw materials, outsourced products, and purchased assemblies.
  • Supports Suppliers in improving their QMS processes and resolving non-conformances and CAPA items.
  • Conducts outsourced bulk production material validation/verification at local lab.
  • Conducts Pre-Production and First Article Inspection of products at local and outsource factory locations.
  • Establish sustainability guidelines to project teams to ensure business goals are achieved.
