About The Position

Develop and implement CMM/Vision System programs and inspection fixtures for new product development and production use. Assist in other quality activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or 7+ years in the manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of programming experience with MCOSMOS and/or Calypso
  • 3+ years of programming of vision systems (e.g., OGP, Micro-Vu, etc.)
  • 5+ years of CAD experience with Solid Works, Pro E is required
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T with the Applied Dimensional Metrology experience
  • Understanding of environmental effects (thermal, electrical, optical, etc.) And techniques to minimize their effect on precision instruments. Adept at process troubleshooting, analysis, statistics and physics and/or other related engineering sciences.
  • Able to interpret, test and establish measurement methods of 1,2 and 3 dimensional applications using contact and non-contact computer controlled CMM’s that consider error sources in a sub-micrometer regime.
  • Proven ability to apply principles (e.g., GD&T Professional - Technologist Level, course work, training seminar, experience)
  • Proven experience with/and ability to learn through technical literature and application of metrology equipment/sensors (e.g., CMM/Vision System - contact, non-contact).
  • Proven ability to perform basic measurement systems analyses and testing (e.g., experience or course work, seminars, tutorials on GR&R, GUM, and with stats software, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead or to co-lead cross-functional projects to provide measurement solutions (e.g., experience with high-precision and/or high-volume (in-line) measurement projects)
  • Proven ability to apply national /international standards in support of projects and corporate directives (e.g., experience using standards testing in selection and acceptance testing of meas. system)
  • Proven experience with 3D Printing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • A completed 2-year vocational program or degree. Course work in inspection, gauging and blueprint reading
  • Exposure to injection molding in any capacity.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical inspection equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Vision System.

  • Medical device industry is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MCOSMOS and MSURF software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop CMM programs
  • Maximizes efficiency of CMM programs
  • Designs and oversees build of custom attribute gauging to be used in production
  • Designs and implements CMM holding fixtures
  • Validates CMM programs
  • Works directly with toolmakers for gage and fixture builds
  • Understand broad spectrum of tolerance regimes and metrology needs (e.g., micro-scale metrology); mentor technicians supporting meas. applications.
  • Develop understanding of key error sources within differing tolerance regimes and scales; mentor high-level technicians and engineers
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) - Understand basic concepts and apply principles at fundamental level (e.g., GD&T Professional - Technologist Level). Apply advanced concepts and mentor others
  • Apply purchased analytical software and implement standard methods to support GD&T analysis
  • Develop CMM programs and apply general knowledge of metrology equipment/sensors (e.g., contact, non-contact)
  • Maintain knowledge level including new commercially available metrology equipment/sensors
  • Develop and maintain external network regarding new research in metrology equipment/sensor technologies
  • Perform basic measurement systems analysis and support uncertainty budget analysis using standardized analysis tools (ASME B89.7 Series of Standards)
  • Identify key error sources, apply basic GUM approach (Guide to the Expression of Measurement Uncertainty), lead development of uncertainty budgets, develop standardized tools and methods
  • Lead and support measurement-related projects in support of NPI and manufacturing and measurement.
  • Lead projects and team with technology partners to provide measurement solutions for mfg. and lab support for processes
  • Develop general knowledge level of existing national and international standards and their impact internally and with customers/suppliers
  • Develop expertise in interpreting and applying national and international standards in support of projects and corporate directives
  • Design, develop and implement CMM holding fixtures.
  • Meet with customers and suppliers to support projects, attend conferences (e.g., ASME, ACMC, SME, ASPE), as required.
  • Maximize efficiency of CMM programs
  • Perform statistical studies on components and gauging.
  • Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.
