About The Position

The Quality Engineer 2 is responsible for planning and executing Product Verification (PV) and confirmation testing according to customer specifications and internal standards. This includes developing and improving test plans, procedures, and Operating Method Sheets (OMS), and ensuring timely completion of PV testing to meet program milestones. The role involves analyzing test results, identifying abnormalities, communicating findings to engineering teams, and leading or supporting investigations of test failures using structured problem-solving methods. The engineer will coordinate with internal and global counterparts for test alignment and issue resolution, and support special testing requests. Additionally, the position manages the metrology system for lab and production measurement equipment, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, calibration, traceability, and fitness for use. It also involves evaluating measurement capability, driving improvements, and supporting the selection and implementation of new test and measurement equipment. The Quality Engineer 2 ensures compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements, maintains quality documentation, and supports internal, external, and customer audits. The role also drives continuous improvement in lab efficiency, data accuracy, and standardization, provides training, and promotes a culture of quality. The position requires working in a manufacturing environment with minimal supervision and may involve shift work, overtime, and travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related degree
3+ years of direct experience
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements
Experience with structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
Experience with metrology systems and measurement equipment
Understanding of 5S and safe laboratory practices

Responsibilities

Plan and execute Product Verification (PV) and confirmation testing per customer specifications and internal standards
Develop, maintain, and improve test plans, test procedures, and OMS (Operating Method Sheets)
Ensure on-time completion of PV testing to support program milestones (PPAP, PV builds, SOP readiness)
Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and clearly communicate findings to Engineering and DENSO SSR teams
Lead or support investigation of test failures using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
Coordinate with internal groups and global counterparts (DENSO Japan, DENSO NA, Thrid-party NA labs, suppliers) for test alignment and issue resolution
Support special testing requests (environmental, durability, stress, vibration, etc.)
Manage metrology system for all lab and production measurement equipment in compliance with IATF 16949 and internal standards
Ensure all equipment is calibrated, traceable, and fit for use at all times
Evaluate measurement capability and drive improvements to ensure accuracy and repeatability
Support selection, validation, and implementation of new test and measurement equipment
Use necessary measuring equipment for dimensions of product to verify conformance to specifications
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements
Maintain and improve lab OMS, control plans, and related quality documentation
Support internal, external, and customer audits; lead responses for metrology and lab-related findings
Ensure adherence to 5S and safe laboratory practices
Drive improvements in lab efficiency, test turnaround time, and data accuracy
Support A3 activities focused on laboratory capability, standardization, and waste reduction
Provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers on test methods and measurement systems
Promote a culture of quality, ownership, and accountability within the lab environment
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform duties with minimal supervision
May require shift work & overtime to support area of responsibility as needed
May require travel
