About The Position

As a Quality Engineer 1, you will serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues in Launch operations, following initial training and certification. You will support Launch operations, ensure compliance with quality standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a high-performance aerospace environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to apply corrective action tools to identify root cause and corrective actions for anomaly conditions
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to easily interface with peers, leaders, and customers
  • Analytical ability to evaluate, interpret, and assimilate data into useable information and provide recommendations based upon results
  • Must be able to work around hazardous systems at the launch sites, climb stairs, and access elevated work platforms
  • The ability to work under pressure, solve problems, communicate effectively, work and lead in a team setting, and strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Participate in multi-discipline continuous improvement teams to improve methods and procedures
  • Highly proficient in computer usage and MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Highly flexible in work schedule (i.e. off-shift, weekends, travel), this will be determined on launch schedule
  • Willing to accommodate occasional TDY's at Vandenberg Space Force Base

Nice To Haves

  • Material Review Board Experience
  • Background in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Experience working in a nonconformance management system
  • Proficiency with SAP
  • Quality inspection experience
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

Responsibilities

  • Process nonconformance documentation and perform evaluations to restore product conformity.
  • Review Launch operations planning for accuracy and compliance to product and process specifications.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement Corrective Actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other assigned quality-related tasks.
