About The Position

The Quality Director for Personal Care Solutions will be responsible for leading the effective design and implementation of the quality strategy, quality management system, and related policies/procedures to meet customer requirements and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards. This role is crucial in ensuring that PLZ maintains its commitment to product stewardship, innovation, and sustainable operations while prioritizing health and safety in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, or related science.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience in a personal care and/or food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of personal care GMP regulations including ISO 22716 and OTC requirements to establish factory site gap analyses and oversee SOPs as necessary to establish/maintain compliance.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in cleaning and sanitization practices.
  • Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships to drive results and continuous improvements.
  • Lab equipment knowledge and use: HPLC, GC and FTIR.
  • SAP or Oracle knowledge is a plus.
  • 75% travel required throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in the design & implementation of a comprehensive quality management system for the business.
  • Build a high performing and highly effective quality organization through effective coaching, development, and training efforts.
  • Manage product quality inspection actions; assist in resolving product quality standard applications by examining and interpreting specifications and correcting inconsistencies.
  • Lead team efforts for collecting, analyzing, and summarizing product quality results data and trends.
  • Provide training and development in problem solving methods, Design of Experiments (DoE), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
  • Tracking and monitoring quality complaints/incidents and ensure rapid root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, including customer interface with top accounts.
  • Responsible for Non-Conformance Material Reviews; lead team in developing and coordinating rework of materials to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Supports LEAN / HACCP concepts and other company standard practices and procedures.
  • Fulfill customer requirements relating to engineering or processing, (i.e. FMEA, flow charting, and problem solving).
  • Lead/support customer quality audits.
