About The Position

AAM is searching for a Quality Coordinator to join our team. This position will be based out of our North Vernon, IN location. As a Quality Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality assurance function to assure all quality systems meet requirements of IATF16949. You would be responsible for supervising and mentoring a trained technical staff as you maintain the Quality Assurance Program from incoming materials through finished goods inventory. Additionally, as Quality Coordinator you will step into responsibilities necessary to ensure continued quality operations in the absence of the Quality Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a quality manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years experience training and managing teams.
  • Strong experience with Quality processes (8D, 5Why, Fishbone, etc)
  • Strong experience managing documentation (FMEA, APQP, PPAP, GD&T, 5S).
  • Experienced in IATF16949 audits.
  • Strong knowledge of Supplier Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all quality requirements, policies, and procedures are followed in daily plant operations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the document control system, ensuring accuracy, version control, and accessibility.
  • Prepare for, lead, and participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Ensure continued compliance with IATF 16949 and Q4 certification requirements.
  • Review daily discrepant material and support disposition decisions.
  • Support timely resolution of customer complaints by working closely with the Quality team to drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate customer scorecards and quality performance metrics to site leadership.
  • Ensure customer parts consistently meet tolerance and specification requirements.
  • Maintain product and process measurement systems aligned with control plans, specifications, quality standards, and documented work instructions.
  • Utilize precision gages, statistical tools, computer systems, and laboratory/testing equipment to perform quality assurance functions, including calibration and testing.
  • Maintain the plant gage and layout system to ensure an effective and compliant MSA program.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, reporting, and monitoring of quality performance related to scrap, rework, rejects, and supplier quality.
  • Support capability studies, SPC implementation, and equipment or process evaluations as required.
  • Actively lead and participate in problem-solving teams using structured methodologies such as 5-Why, 8D, and other root-cause analysis tools.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for a team of quality inspectors, including coaching and performance support.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to develop and deliver training on quality tools, techniques, and standards.
  • Maintain regular, direct interaction with plant personnel regarding quality concerns and improvement opportunities.
  • Interface cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and supply chain on quality-related issues.
  • Support Quality Team in gathering and validating data for PPAP submissions, including control plans, PFMEAs, process flows, and supporting documentation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
