Quality Coordinator EX

As the Quality / Risk Management Coordinator at Scenic Mountain Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of care and managing risks within the hospital. This position involves coordinating the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital's overall performance improvement program. You will support the corporation's performance improvement process by identifying performance trends, prioritizing areas for improvement, and recommending actionable changes. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with all healthcare accrediting body standards and investigate specific areas of concern as identified by hospital leadership. Participation in Quality Improvement activities is also a key aspect of this role. In terms of risk management, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering facility-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction. This includes maintaining a network of information sources and experts, performing risk surveys, and inspecting patient care areas. You will conduct unit rounds and review the facility to assess potential loss. Maintaining risk management statistics and files in accordance with accreditation, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements is essential. You will also collect, evaluate, and distribute relevant data concerning patient injuries, including aggregate data summaries and monthly trend analyses of incidents and claims profiles. Collaboration with legal counsel is another critical responsibility, as you will coordinate the investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the facility. This involves recording, collecting, documenting, and maintaining information and documents necessary for preparing testimony in pending litigation. Furthermore, you will investigate and analyze actual and potential risks within the institution, assessing liability and the probability of legal action for potential notification to corporate risk and insurance.
