The role of a quality control technologist is to verify that an organization's products and services meet industry and government standards. The position's responsibilities include the inspection of ingredient, in-process and finished goods materials and the tabulation and input of test results into designated locations. Overall, the role of Quality Control technologist is extremely important. Through diligence, you ensure the final products that emerge from a company's machines are safe for the customer and end user.

  • Responsible for achieving Quality/Food Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Develops, implements, and maintains plant quality standards, SOPs, and Work Instructions
  • Acts as a quality resource for the operational issues, process improvement activities, new ingredient testing, and new product commissioning
  • Troubleshoots quality issues
  • Coordinates in-process finished goods lab activities and testing
  • Completes laboratory processes
  • Performs Tactical SPC plan
  • Resource for coordinating commissioning efforts and sanitation system verification
  • Performs the HACCP risk assessment for both the raw materials and the line processes
  • Audits raw material suppliers as assigned by the supervisor
  • Review testing of raw data, analytical reports, and certificate of Analysis (CoA) of each production run after the incubation for product release
  • Maintains Quality records per company SOP
  • Manages the NCMR and communicates disposition of product including corrective and preventative actions
  • Develops Quality Systems process (Change Requests, approval of documents, document numbering systems, maintenance of history page)
  • BS degree in Food science or related field desired
  • If no degree, must have some level of food or pet food manufacturing experience
  • Certification in SQF a plus
  • Certification in HACCP a plus
  • Limited Problem-Solving training a plus
  • Experience in ERP (SAP), MS Office Suite, and MiniTab Statistical software, a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • German language speaking skills is another advantage
