About The Position

Position Summary: This position is for an inspection technician to support advanced manufacturing technologies. Under the leadership of quality technicians, CMM programmers and quality specialists, this role will support inspection of additively manufactured and cold sprayed parts. This role applies conventional and advanced methodologies to produce in process and final inspection reports for the machining, post processing and engineering staff. A working knowledge of blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential. The work will primarily support government customers, but some industrial business may be supported by this position as well.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years technical experience as an inspection technician.
  • Experience as an inspection technician in the Additive Manufacture Industry.
  • Certified in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience working with Design and Development functions.
  • Competent with reading and interpreting 3D models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Capable of operating a CMM with PC-DMIS software.
  • General knowledge of PC-DMIS programming.
  • Competent in using conventional measurement devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.).
  • Competent in performing in-process inspections applicable to 3D machining to support additive manufacturing.
  • Competent in interpreting manufacturing plans.
  • Familiar with using 3D scanning devices for applications aligned to Additive Manufacturing production.
  • Competent in deciphering ballooned drawings and produce proficient AS9102 inspection and first article reports.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Understanding of the AS9100 quality standards.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, Quality Control Technology.
  • Holds certificate in Quality Control or willingness to obtain through this role.
  • Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, CNC machining, forging, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization.
  • Self-motivated and organized with ability to work with minimal supervision.
