About The Position

Contech is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our Caldwell, ID plant, where you'll contribute to building and maintaining America's vital infrastructure, including drainage systems, bridges, stormwater management, and more. As a Quality Control Technician, your responsibilities will include: Ensuring that concrete products meet various specifications, including PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), and other local and company-specific requirements. Overseeing and documenting all concrete testing, including air, slump, temperature, unit weight, and cylinder tests. You'll take corrective action as needed to maintain product quality. Maintaining records of cylinder breaks in accordance with company quality control standards and PCI requirements. Inspecting raw materials and fresh concrete during batching and after testing to confirm they meet specifications. Ensuring the use of proper mix designs for each product type. Operating and maintaining quality equipment according to manuals and instructions. Conducting random inspections and documentation of wire cage fabrication. Inspecting loads leaving the plant to ensure accuracy and quality. Holding monthly quality control training meetings and maintaining personnel training records. Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand production drawings, engineered prints, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of operating and adjusting batching-related equipment for concrete production.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to make adjustments and basic equipment repairs to meet specifications.
  • Mathematical ability to calculate mixing proportions and quantities required for filling molds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • A two-year technical degree.
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • PCI Level 2 certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.
