The Quality Control Technician position is a hybrid role consisting of production inspections, raw material inspections, product packaging and quality metric record keeping. Job Description Inspecting factory output (Radios, Master Stations, Spare parts) using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality. Inspection of selected inbound materials for compliance, fit form, etc. Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements. Packing for shipment of radios, particularly smaller orders < 15 units/job, but could also include larger orders in the event of a surge in demand. Reviewing CAD drawings and specifications to compare to produced goods. Recording inspection results by completing reports; both in hard-copy methods and data input into ERP system. Also summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database. Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence. Proposing improvements to the production process. Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training. Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements. Using gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products. Collecting and compiling statistical quality data, such as testing FPY and SMT defects. Determining the causes of product defects and reworks. First piece inspection/approval of SMT assemblies (assuming IPC-A-610 certified/experience). Other duties as assigned by supervision.
