About The Position

Acara Solutions is seeking a Quality Control Senior Manager to join our client, a manufacturer in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Quality Control Senior Manager oversees all quality activities in a manufacturing environment producing electronics, power supplies, and transformers for industrial and U.S. military customers. This role leads the quality team and ensures products meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. The position supports compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 and drives continuous improvement across operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in quality control or assurance within industrial or electronic manufacturing environments.
  • 3+ years of management or supervisory experience leading quality teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of MIL-SPEC, ISO 9000, and ISO 9001:2015 standards
  • Experience with ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS) software.
  • U.S. citizen with the ability to secure a U.S. Government security clearance; must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with DoD, aerospace, or defense manufacturing contracts highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001
  • Proficient in using inspection and test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, hipot testers, etc.).
  • Skilled in statistical process control (SPC) , root cause analysis (RCA) , 8D problem-solving , and FMEA .
  • Familiarity with transformer winding , power supply testing , and PCB assembly processes.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • IPC Certification (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC-7711/7721)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and support QC engineers, inspectors, and technicians
  • Assign inspection and testing work to meet production schedules
  • Act as the main contact for internal, customer, and government audits
  • Promote a strong safety and quality culture
  • Set and enforce inspection, testing, and sampling requirements
  • Manage First Article Inspections (FAIs) and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs)
  • Oversee calibration and control of measurement and test equipment
  • Manage nonconforming material and MRB activities
  • Ensure compliance with MIL-SPEC, IPC, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards
  • Maintain accurate quality records and inspection documentation
  • Support DCMA and military customer source inspections
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Manage internal and supplier audits
  • Track and analyze quality metrics such as defects, rework, and scrap
  • Work with Engineering and Production to improve product quality
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce variation and improve processes
  • Recommend improvements in inspection methods and automation
