Where Potential Meets Purpose: Spees Design Build We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control / Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Specialist to support the review and delivery of high-quality architectural and engineering design documents. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, consistency, code compliance, and coordination across all disciplines throughout the design process. The QC/QA Specialist will work closely with project managers, discipline leads, and design teams to support successful project delivery and minimize risk prior to client submission.

Requirements

  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (20%)
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in Architecture/Engineering (AE) design, construction documents, or technical design review.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil).
  • Working knowledge of building codes, life-safety requirements, and design standards.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and document management systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive quality reviews of drawings and specifications at all phases of design (SD, DD, 35%, 65%, 95%, and 100%).
  • Verify that design documents are accurate, complete, coordinated, and aligned with the project scope and contract requirements.
  • Identify design conflicts, missing information, and inconsistencies between architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure drawings are clear, constructible, and properly formatted prior to submission.
  • Review design documents for compliance with applicable building codes, life-safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure alignment with client design guidelines, federal standards, and project-specific technical criteria.
  • Verify that specifications accurately reflect the intended design and applicable standards.
  • Apply established QA/QC procedures and checklists to ensure consistent document quality across projects.
  • Track and coordinate review comments to ensure all items are addressed prior to submission.
  • Support multidisciplinary design reviews and internal QA/QC meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining document control and revision tracking processes.
  • Review specifications, reports, narratives, and technical documentation for clarity, consistency, and completeness.
  • Confirm alignment between drawings and specifications prior to final submission.
  • Ensure all required deliverables are included and properly organized.
  • Maintain QA/QC logs and quality documentation for project records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, discipline leads, and consultants to resolve quality issues.
  • Communicate review findings clearly and professionally to the design team.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and support continuous improvement of design quality standards.

  • $85,000 - $95,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications (DOE).
