About The Position

The Quality Control Manager establishes the direction and strategic vision for Palmetto State Armory’s Quality Programs and Initiatives. This position reports directly to the Pistol Operations Manager. As part of the senior management team, regularly consults with executive leadership. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for all quality, lean and ISO 9000/9001 related issues throughout the organization; establishes and nurtures an environment that always fosters continual improvement thinking. The position serves on the management team to establish strategic business objectives, quality measures and quality system surveillance.

Requirements

  • Must have a strong knowledge and proficiency of GD&T
  • Minimum of 3 years Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5-7 years in a decision-making technical, professional or management position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Green belt or higher Six Sigma.
  • Hand gauge experience: Calipers, Micrometers, Height Stands, Micro-Hites.
  • Strong Knowledge of CMM’s and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of functionality of firearms
  • Strong knowledge base of NetSuite or another ERP system.
  • Must be able to build a high-performance team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and work group.
  • Ability to construct and write business documents, including Quality Manual, Procedures and Forms.
  • Proficient skills with computers, Excel, and Outlook (Prefer Google Suite Modules) required.
  • Able to lead, motivate, mentor, communicate and generally interact with people in a positive way.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; looks for continuous improvement and implementation.
  • Ability to handle detail-oriented tasks by organizing a project from start to finish.
  • Sound decision-making abilities and takes responsibility.
  • Must be willing to learn, improve, adapt and be flexible.
  • Be personally energetic, positive, and able to think laterally to follow through with reasoned decision making.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication both orally and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Contact and non-contact measuring systems preferred.
  • ASQ Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence Certification preferred.
  • Skilled in quality tools, such as, Fishbone, 5-Whys, 8D etc. preferred
  • Solid modeling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Strategic and Tactical Quality Plans.
  • Leads the task of developing quality policies and procedures, as well as long- and short-term quality goals.
  • Facilitates and leads efforts for Strategic Planning and Quality improvement.
  • Implement and oversee LEAN processes.
  • Document and establish RMA processes with inside and outside vendors.
  • Ensure regular formal quality education is planned for all divisions.
  • Knowledge of ISO implementation and processes.
  • Prepares required written documentation for executive review.
  • Adhere to all Safety Principles and all Quality System Standards.
  • Manages document control process including document release, control of records, document storage, and record retention.
  • Manages the Non-Conforming Material review process (MRB).
  • Provide leadership to support and coordinate efforts that ensure our company achieves goals and objectives that are consistent with the company values and mission.
  • Serves as the Quality Management Representative.
  • Establish a working relationship with quality departments for each of DC Machines’ major vendors.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place and followed for inspecting all inbound product.
  • Develops, plans and implements checks for all outgoing product, working hand in hand with customer service and the online warehouse.
  • Develops a method of quality feedback. Feedback is provided on a regular basis production.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of other employees.
  • Work interdepartmentally to continually improve operations and grow our business.
  • Assist with the hiring/firing, training/development, performance management and safety of employees. Provide discipline, both written and oral when necessary.
  • Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
